GSSI - Gran Sasso Science Institute

Introduction

The GSSI is an international Ph.D. school and a center for advanced studies in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Social Sciences, located in L’Aquila (Italy). It was founded in 2012 as Center for Advanced Studies of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and then established in March 2016 as a School of Advanced Studies providing post-graduate education. The GSSI aims to create a new center of scientific excellence in L’Aquila fostering the skills and highly specialized structures already present in the area, such as the Gran Sasso National Laboratories of the INFN and the University of L'Aquila, facilitating the attraction of high-level resources in the fields of natural and social sciences. Its purpose is to form high-level human capital, integrating education and research in a lively interdisciplinary environment.


The Gran Sasso Science Institute offers 30 Ph.D. scholarships in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Social Sciences.

The GSSI - Gran Sasso Science Institute offers 30 Ph.D. shcolarships in the following fields: Astroparticle Physics (8 scholarships), Mathematics in Natural, Social and Life Sciences (8), Computer Scicence (7), Regional Science and economic Geography (7).

The official language for all PhD courses is English. The scholarships are awarded for 4 years and their yearly amount is € 16,159.91 gross. All PhD students will have free accomodation at the GSSI facilities and use of the garden.

The application must be submited through the online form available at www.gssi.it/phd/ by 11 June 2020, 5 pm (Italian time zone).

In addressing the complexity of today's world, we are committed to removing all barriers betweeb the GSSI areas of study and research, where interdisciplinarity and cross-fertilization underlie everything we do.

Among our goals are the dissemination of scientific results towards society and the promotion of cultural events for generic public, citizens and schools.
