Mercer University is pleased to offer a professional program in physical therapy which awards the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. The Program is offered on the Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional Campus in Atlanta, Georgia. This innovative eight-semester Program provides a comprehensive entry-level professional education, including an integrated clinical education track that consists of service-learning and clinical experiences, and three full-time clinical education courses. Mercer DPT students are actively engaged in patient/client-related activities each semester. Built upon an integrated traditional model, the DPT curriculum provides a strong foundation in basic, applied, and physical therapy science courses.

The Doctor of Philosophy in kinesiology prepares students to be scholarly researchers who generate new knowledge in the field of kinesiology and the skills to apply the existing scholarship to questions concerning the prevention, assessment, and treatment of motor difficulties, chronic diseases, and musculoskeletal injuries.

The 3-year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at Campbell University focuses on an evidence-supported curriculum centered on the patient and clinical practice in rural healthcare. The curriculum utilizes integrated, interdisciplinary education to prepare students to enter one of the most rewarding and fastest-growing healthcare professions. Students who complete the program will earn a DPT degree and eligibility to become a candidate for initial licensure in the 53 jurisdictions recognized by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).

This program is designed to include many of the rehabilitation professions and offers opportunities for qualified clinical professionals to prepare for careers in independent research, teaching, and administration. It is the goal of this program to prepare graduates who will provide vision and direction for the integration of the rehabilitation professions; advance the theory and practice of rehabilitation science through research, and acquire and integrate knowledge related to the social and basic medical sciences.

The residential Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy has a long history of exceeding the minimum required educational preparation for individuals pursuing a professional career as a physical therapist. The first school to offer a master’s and a Ph.D. degree in physical therapy, USC was also a leader in graduating the first DPT class in the United States.
