Introduction
The 3rd cycle in Structural Materials Engineering aims to provide, through a scientific and practical research approach, solid, advanced, and updated training in order to create highly qualified researchers in the field, able to solve problems related to practical applications of engineering in industry or to pursue a research career in this scientific field.
It is intended that students obtain the skills necessary to continue to develop and apply, independently, the acquired knowledge, becoming an important asset in the academic institutions, or business / industrial where they will develop their activity.
The cycle of studies also seeks to attract students from other training courses in other universities, and professionals in the area of Aeronautics, Automobile, Construction, etc. who want to specialize and progress in their careers.

Cycle of studies
The present cycle of studies aims to provide the student with the capacity to develop independent R&D work in Structural Materials Engineering, both in academic and industrial environments, being able to contribute actively in areas of development associated with the production of new materials and their applications.
The 3rd cycle in Engineering of Structural Materials intends to develop:
- Planning, execution, and analysis capabilities of experimental work and the implementation of innovative solutions to complex problems of Materials Engineering.
- A critical, reflexive, and argumentative attitude well-grounded in scientific knowledge.
- A proactive attitude in transferring knowledge 'from the laboratory to the industry.
- A conscious attitude on issues of scientific and social ethics, and sustainability.
- Skills for project management and development of products, as well as for the realization of technological investments and the creation of their own companies.
