PhD in Public Administration Sciences: The Doctoral School of Public Administration Sciences was established in 2013. Currently, it is the only doctoral school specializing in the field of public administration in Hungary. The aim of the Doctoral School’s program is to provide postgraduate-level education to professionals (researchers and practitioners) working in the field public administration PhD in Military Sciences: The Doctoral School of Military Sciences has a wide spectrum of research fields: Security Studies, Social Aspects of Defence Studies, General Military Theory, Theories of Military Science, Defence Logistics and Defence Economics, National Security and Theory of Defence Information Technology and Communication PhD in Military Engineering: Military Engineering includes all engineering disciplines related to military applications. This kind of Ph.D. degree is unique in Europe and worldwide.

The primary task of the Doctoral School is to provide educational programs in PhD in Architectural Engineering of a high standard in accordance with the requirements of the Bologna system to those leading architects with an MSc or MA degree, as well as to those with an MA or MSc degree in an architecture-related field.

The Doctoral School of Educational Sciences focuses on educational research where features of schools, human aspects, and professional methodology meet with contemporary and historical art and educational considerations.

The Doctoral School has eight Ph.D. programs that encompass all the branches and interfaces of forestry and wildlife management sciences. Education and research at the Doctoral School are pursued in the basic and applied sciences, related to forests, wildlife, and nature. The knowledge and the degree gained at the Doctoral School are a good reference when applying for leading positions in higher education institutions, research institutes, forestry, wildlife management, and conservation.

The structure of the PhD in Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences of the Medical Faculty is similar to those of most European and American universities. The doctoral (PhD) degree, as the highest qualification attainable at university, is confer- red by the University of Pécs on those who have given evidence of having acquired sufficient practical skills and theoretical knowledge to conduct scientific research independently.

The structure of the PhD in Clinical Neurosciences of the Medical Faculty is similar to those of most European and American universities. The doctoral (PhD) degree, as the highest qualification attainable at university, is confer- red by the University of Pécs on those who have given evidence of having acquired sufficient practical skills and theoretical knowledge to conduct scientific research independently.

The students receive strong theoretical, research methodology, and scientific backgrounds, and complete their research individually, with some guidance from their supervisors. Supervision is offered by the top experts and wood scientists in Hungary. The topics are typically linked to industrial research or innovation projects so that Sopron doctoral graduates have not only strong theoretical backgrounds but are very practical scientists as well.

The primary aim of our doctoral school is to train scientists who can continue their creative scientific work related to leading fields of chemical engineering and material sciences after finishing their PhD studies. The doctoral school was established on January 1, 2001 as the highest level of chemical engineering education at University of Pannonia. Since then, more than 100 students have earned the PhD degree in our doctoral school.

We expect applicants, who would like to do research concerning the multilingual person and multilingual communities, as well as language teachers, who would contribute to the renewal of language teaching and language learning and making these more effective by academic research.

The objective of the Doctoral School of Social Communication operating since 2012 is the examination of issues of theoretical and applied communication, the clarification of the notion of communication, its role in society and its theoretical context, as well as the exploration of the sociological, socio/psychological, cultural, anthropological and ethological aspects of communication.

The curriculum also includes the term in which it is recommended to complete the compulsory subjects. It is composed in a way that doctoral students can complete their study obligations in two years.

The Doctoral School of Applied Informatics and Applied Mathematics started its activities. in 2009. Its aim is to train researchers – mainly with an engineering background – who are familiar with the methods and techniques of informatics, computer science, and applied mathematics, and can solve real industrial research and development tasks using multi-disciplinary knowledge, communication skills, and teamwork experience.

The Cultural Heritage Management Postgraduate Specialization is the first of its kind in Hungary. It offers students a post-graduate opportunity to examine the growing demand in Europe for trained professionals who possess the skills and education to examine the concepts and relevance of cultural heritage and the sustainable, functioning systems meant to preserve and protect cultural heritage for future generations.
