The study program offers a great deal of openness and flexibility, as students can actively shape their individual educational path according to their own interests and career orientations, with emphasis on theoretical, applied or computer-oriented mathematical knowledge received. With the support of mentors, each student gradually builds the necessary set of knowledge and research experience to independently manage highly demanding practical problems in their field of study. An important feature of the doctoral study program in Mathematics is its international comparability, openness, and flexibility: through the involvement of students in various scientific research and applied projects taking place at the faculty....

Mathematical modeling is the process of developing mathematical descriptions, or models, of real-world systems. These models can be linear or nonlinear, discrete or continuous, deterministic or stochastic, and static or dynamic, and they enable investigating, analyzing, and predicting the behavior of systems in a wide variety of fields. Through extensive study and research, graduates of this program will have the expertise not only to use the tools of mathematical modeling in various application settings, but also to contribute in creative and innovative ways to the solution of complex interdisciplinary problems and to communicate effectively with domain experts in various fields....

The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences is pleased in offering PhD in Computer science by research to students on the Dubai campus.
Initially, those with an interest in undertaking a project in the broad area of computing are encouraged to apply. This may include different research topics as outlined in programme content.
PhD study on the Dubai Campus will enable students to work with staff and students in Dubai in collaboration with a research group in Edinburgh performing high value and fundamental research in engineering. Students will be working under the supervision of an expert academic supervisor based at the Dubai Campus and supported by a second supervisor in Edinburgh. In addition to time spent doing research project work, students will engage with scientific literature and participate in research group discussions and meetings using electronic communications. On completion of the research project, students spend some six months 'writing up' to produce a final PhD. Once the thesis has been submitted, internal and external academics will examine the student’s work and knowledge of the PhD subject....

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Concentration: Mathematics
The Ph.D. program in Mathematical Sciences is designed for students with a Master degree in Mathematics from a credit university. It is a 56 credit hours program offered for full-time students within the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Students are required to complete 24 credit hours of coursework in addition to30 credit hours assigned to research and a completion of a Ph.D. thesis. The coursework includes 6 credit hours of College of Science requirements (Ethics, Research Methods, and Seminars), 3 core mathematics courses in addition to 3 elective courses (9 credit hours) that allow the student to specialize in any specific topic related to pure or applied mathematics. Student progress is overseen by a research supervisor (and co-supervisors) and a thesis defense committee. The program is a fee-based program open for all students who meet the entry requirements....

Joining the Department as a postgraduate is certainly a good move. The Department maintains strong research in both pure and applied mathematics, as well as the traditional core of a Mathematics department. What makes our Department different is the equally strong research in fluid mechanics, scientific computation, and statistics.
The quality of research at the postgraduate level is reflected in the scholarly achievements of faculty members, many of whom are recognized as leading authorities in their fields. Research programmes often involve collaboration with scholars at an international level, especially in the European, North American and Chinese universities. Renowned academics also take part in the Department's regular colloquia and seminars. The faculty comprises several groups: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Probability, and Statistics....

The Applied Mathematics and Computational Sciences (AMCS) program educates students to construct and solve Mathematical and Computational models of real-world problems.
About the Program
The Applied Mathematics and Computational Sciences (AMCS) program educates students to construct and solve Mathematical and Computational models of real-world problems. Two-degree programs are offered: the M.S. degree (under either a Thesis or a Non-Thesis option) and the Ph.D. degree. Admission to one-degree program does not guarantee transfer to another.
The Applied Math and Computational Science program offers specializations in three distinct directions (called “Tracks”): Applied Mathematics (AM), Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) and Statistics (ST).
The requirements for the different specializations may vary and are outlined below. All students in the M.S. program are guided by a Faculty advisor to develop their program of study....
