The goal of the study is to educate specialists with a deep knowledge in the field of food chemistry, food/feed analysis, and human nutrition - reflecting the current state of the art in the respective scientific field and with the vision of future developments/challenges. The students will get not only an extensive theoretical knowledge but also broad practical experience in laboratories equipped with the modern instrumentation. The courses provided to a future specialist are focused on reaction occurring in food during processing transportation and /or storage. The major parameters of foodstuffs such as nutritional value, sensory properties and safety are under focus, food supplements are also an issue of concern. Special attention is paid to advanced analytical strategies applicable for efficient control of chemical contaminants/ residues/toxicants, attention is also paid to modern omics strategies enabling fighting food fraud and studies of biologically active food components. As regards human nutrition, some courses are concerned also with medical aspect associated with this area....

The aim of the study is to prepare students for scientific research work at the level corresponding to the current requirements of science. In the new study, concept integrates physical anthropology, including genetics, ecology, and ethology, the sociocultural anthropology in a holistic approach to the study of humans and populations. The task of teaching, in general, is to learn the theoretical foundations of the field and mastering the techniques and methodology of scientific research work.
In physical anthropology, the methods include somatometry, osteometry, anthropological somatotopy, dermatoglyphic, basics of rent genometry and other morphological and morphometric approaches, including the newly introduced 3D non-contact techniques. Methods of molecular genetics entail PCR in situ hybridization, DNA sequencing, and restriction analysis methods. Research programs of the training center focused on tracking postnatal growth and development of children in normal and pathological, research on nutrition and obesity, the study of morphological variability in populations, the impact of environmental factors on the ontogenetic development of man, watching craniofacial growth of normal and abnormal congenital defects, evaluation dermatoglyphic characteristics particularly in relation to developmental disorders and to analyze the patterns of human behavior....

The Doctoral study program "Medical Psychology and Psychopathology" is engaged in basic and applied research in the field of biopsychosocial relations. The theoretical starting points are theoretical knowledge base systems, psychological fields (developmental psychology, personality psychology, and others), as well as other applied disciplines, especially clinical and medical psychology. Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences present an interdisciplinary area of science focused on mental functions and behavior. This approach is not only psychological and sociological but includes also genetic, biochemical or physiological approaches and interdisciplinary connections among them with the purpose to effectively use the most advanced knowledge in the care of mentally and physically ill....

Biomechanics is an interdisciplinary field of science which, based on the knowledge of anatomy and biochemistry, deals with the mechanical structure and mechanical behavior of living systems and their mutual mechanical interactions. A biophysical and engineering methodological approach to task solving is supported there by a great degree of knowledge of biological nature. Research is carried out at various levels of distinction, ranging from micromechanics (cell level) to living macro-systems (e.g. human biomechanics). Applications of biomechanics can be encountered in a number of areas of science and professional activities.
Biomechanics conceived in this manner can be utilized not only in the field of basic research but also in a wide range of professional activities - e.g. in rehabilitation medicine, ergonomics, forensic and biomedical engineering, sports, etc. The Training Department of Charles University and the Czech Academy of Sciences enables interdisciplinary education in doctoral studies on a wide scale and directed towards the specific application....

The doctoral study program “Theology”, the branch of study “Hussite theology” with a standard length of study of four years prepares students for independent scientific research and independent creative activities in the area of theology. The branch of study enables students to specialize according to his or her individual study plan. The branch of study provides knowledge of hermeneutical approaches and applies them in the contemporary theological discourse and also in the dialogue with confessional approaches of other theological systems. The subject of the studies is a theological compendium interpreted in the course of the Hussite theology. The goal of the studies is a scientific preparation of first-rate experts that are capable of independent scientific work in the area of theology. The branch is simultaneously oriented to awareness of the fact that from the very beginning there is an effort to new understanding and new interpretation of fundamental theological notions. Thereby the branch is in context with other concepts that were overcoming a metaphysical conception of the world. It deals with the key questions of the Christian belief and Christ present in this world.
